Liverpool are dismissing out of hand rumours that Danny Ings is set to depart Anfield.
Scottish Premiership side Rangers were reportedly interested in signing the former Burnley striker, but according to the Liverpool Echo, Jurgen Klopp has no plans to let him leave.
That’s despite a poor season on Merseyside in which he has failed to settle, while the Reds have been linked with a host of other strikers.
Ings’ season was heavily hindered by a cruciate knee ligament injury, so it’s no wonder he didn’t make an impact.
Klopp is clearly well aware of that and will give him another year to prove himself.
Ings impressed during Burnley’s last spell in the Premier League, so he is clearly capable at that level, even if he is yet to prove it in a red shirt.
If Christian Benteke departs as expected, then he may well be granted more opportunities next season, but it’s essential he takes them if he is to finally carve out a career at the club.
