Jose Mourinho is said to be confident of becoming the next Manchester United manager according to the highly respected British media outlet The Times.
They say, in almost as many words:
José Mourinho is confident of Manchester United job
This comes in the light of Lous van Gaal’s admission that he feels he has failed the Manchester United fans, who expected results and entertainment.
When asked about the booing from large section of the fans in Old Trafford in the aftermath of the Southampton game, he said:
“They have – or they had – great expectations of me, and I cannot fulfil them, so I am very frustrated because of that,” said Dutchman Van Gaal.
Van Gaal looks like a beaten man and we think that the Manchester United board are being beyond indecisive now. They are actually being cruel to keep the Dutchman in the job.
Manchester United needs a lift and, whatever reservations the fans or board may have about the Portuguese now, we feel that they will adore him within a few weeks. He will be one of their own in a similar way to Sir Alex because he has that same hunger and drive to succeed. To win every trophy every year.
Mourinho really can have that big an effect on the club as far as we are concerned. In fact, it’s a painfully obvious solution for the board to make.
But perhaps Ed Woodward and his cohorts are over-thinking a simple decision.
Mourinho seems ready to take on a long-term, career-defining project and what better place than Manchester United? An ailing giant with massive resources and with whom he has no previous.
It’s one of the simplest decisions Woodward will ever have to make. But, for some reason, he is stalling.
Let’s hope he doesn’t risk losing Jose for a second time. Because there surely won’t be a third opportunity to bring this world-class points machine to the club.

Woodward is stalling because he is a risk adverse accountant. He doesn’t have the guts to hire Mourinho anymore than he has had the nerve to bid for high-value world class players that Man U is needing. Every week the rumour mill has Woodward “preparing a massive offer” which are never presented. get rid of Woodward – hire Mourinho, bid for CR7 and maybe MU could be taken seriously again – Otherwise they are a mid table team like Stoke or Everton.
