Latest rumours from Italy suggest that Chelsea are interested in signing the world renowned Brazil centre-back Thiago Silva in this window.
The Metro writes:
Chelsea have opened talks to sign PSG star Thiago Silva, according to reports.
As defenders go they don’t come much better than Thiago Silva. He’s an all-round top class centre back.
He’s a fine physical specimen who can handle The Premier League’s toughest number 9s. Thiago Silva is a leader for club and country and he has decent pace and great feet.
At 31 years of age Chelsea could expect him to play at the top level for another few years and it would have to be seen as a great coup for the club.
John Terry looks in excellent shape this season but, at 35, every appearance now has to be seen a a bonus. As for Gary Cahill, he is a decent defender but obviously not in the same league as Silva, who could mentor the likes of Kurt Zouma and bring solidity back to a defence which has been unusually leaky this season.
Let’s have a look at the legend in action.
Chelsea fans: would it be worth paying what would be massive wages for a 31-year-old?
