They have been fierce rivals for longer than anyone alive can remember and Real Madrid and Barcelona could be set to do battle yet again – this time for the inordinate talents of Paul Pogba.
Spanish Media Outlet AS reports (via Sky Sports in England):
Real Madrid will battle it out with Barcelona for Paul Pogba’s signature, according to AS.
PSG are also reportedly keen admirers of the Frenchman.
It is said that new Real Madrid coach and fellow Frenchman Zinedine Zidane is a big admirer of the player and may try to make the 22 year old dynamo his marquee summer signing. Zizou said of the midfielder, in June 2015:
“I think he’s fantastic. What I like about him is that he has everything. He’s a complete player, who is also capable of scoring goals, because he gets forward a lot. In terms of his football qualities, he is extraordinary,”
But Barcelona may have something to say about that and it is a testament to the meteoric rise of the player that he is being courted by the Spanish giants along with PSG.
Pogba joined Juventus in 2012 after Manchester United made the huge mistake of letting the young star leave for a nominal fee. He made an immediate impression at the club and has gone on to make 155 appearances and score 29 goals in his fledgling career.
He was also part of the Juventus team which contested the Champions League final with Barcelona last season and it’s difficult to imagine him still plying his trade in Serie A come this time next year.
Let’s take a look at the brilliant, box-to-box man in action.
