One of the players whose future seems most up in the air right now at Manchester United is Robin van Persie.
The Dutchman started his career at Manchester United superbly, hitting 30 goals in his first season at the club and being largely responsible for the last title win.
But the subsequent managerial turbulence clearly hasn’t helped the Dutchman, who has also suffered the regular injuries which we saw at Arsenal.
But the Manchester United boss has reportedly told Van Persie that he needs to work harder if he wants a future at the club.
The Daily Mail says:
Robin van Persie told he must improve in training as Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has doubts over striker’s fitness
He’s 32 in the autumn but, with modern technology and training methods, players regularly now play at the top into their mid thirties. We have no doubt that RvP could be a vital squad member for Manchester United next season if he is prepared to accept a role as second choice striker.
But it’s impossible to say with any confidence that he will be at Manchester United come September. With so much uncertainty surrounding who Louis van Gaal will purchase this summer, the future of RvP looks very much up in the air right now.
United fans: should the club hold onto the lad in the hope that he can return to the boil or offload him and go for a younger talent?
