Manchester United: €97m Link Reported

Hummels can take Manchester United's defence to a different level

Makes sense

We are touching cloth with silly season in the transfer market now and expect some insane stories to surface over the summer.

But, as transfer tales go, we think that this one makes a lot of sense.

The tabloids have chosen three players for Manchester United moves in the latest news cycle and we think that all three have a very good chance of making the switch to Old Trafford this summer:

Man Utd’s £70m (97m Euros) TRIPLE deal

Manchester United are hoping to pull off an ambitious triple swoop ahead of Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool.

The Daily Star claim Louis van Gaal is confident of landing Dortmund’s Mats Hummels, Southampton star Nathaniel Clyne and PSV ace Memphis Depay all for £70m.

Clyne seems like a definite target. He fits the bill perfectly for Manchester United, who clearly need another right back. This one looks highly likely.

The need for Hummels may be revisited by the Manchester United staff after the recent, imperious, displays of Smalling and Jones at the heart of the defence. But Hummels does possess far superior passing ability than the other two and would command the defence.

As for Depay, we would love to see him join Manchester United – perhaps even more so than Gareth Bale. He’s got frightening potential with pace and power to burn already. His drop of the shoulder flummoxes defenders almost every time. He’s obviously much more raw than Bale but Manchester United fans may well get to enjoy him improve week on week and become one of the best in the world, just like Cristiano Ronaldo did from 2003-2009. Now wouldn’t that be special?

Let’s see Depay doing the business for Holland against Spain recently.
