It looks as if it could be a summer of transition for Chelsea. Despite already having a very strong look about them The Telegraph reports that Chelsea are looking for a commanding midfield presence to play alongside Nemanja Matic in the heart of the engine room, or as more of a creator, next season.
Chelsea’s interest in Paul Pogba has taken an intriguing twist after it emerged Juventus are interested in Oscar and Ramires.
The Blues are one of the clubs most affected by the new FFP regulations. Because while their owner has almost endless cash wealth, they don’t have the revenue of clubs like Barca, Real and Manchester United.
So any big signings may once more be balanced by departures of the likes of Ramires and Oscar.
The same source also suggests that, if Chelsea don’t win the fierce race for Poggers, then they may go in for the brilliant young Atlético Madrid dynamo Koke.
Other than Pogba, Mourinho is interested in Atlético Madrid midfielder Koke and Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane.
Either of these two would be superb signings for Chelsea – not least because, while Oscar and Ramires can only comfortably play in one position, Pogba and Koke can both do a brilliant job driving forward from the engine room or sitting in behind the main striker up top.
Pogba, in particular, has come to the fore over the last couple of years as a player who can adapt to various roles with ease. He scores spectacular goals, gets box to box and isn’t scared to crunch into a 50/50 challenge.
The report also states that Chelsea retain an interest in the brilliant Raphael Varane.
With Jose looking set to stay at Chelsea for another few years at least, he may be ready to turn the screw this summer in a bid to compete with Europe’s elite.
Let’s have a look at Pogba in action. Chelsea fans: the ideal signing or the summer?
