Manchester United dramas typically involve title tussles. But, while the latest episode is less grand, it is every bit as compelling.
11 games to go and Manchester United are playing poorly and attempting to chug their way towards a top four finish.
But, if anything, their rivals are looking more convincing. While Southampton may be expected to fall off the pace, Liverpool have been steadily improving and find themselves just two points behind United after the best results sequence in the division over the last couple of months.
Arsenal’s likely European exit will only strenghten their challenge while Tottenham remain within spitting distance of Manchester United.
All in all, it’s been another terribly disapppointing season so far but if Louis van Gaal’s men can get that Champions League spot the Manchester United faithful will have a marvellous close season.
But they won’t do it on this form. Another unconvincing performance against Sunderland at the weekend yielded a good result but this is a sterner, away test, and one which The Reds must win. Over to you Louis.
