Not another

When Manchester United consider the futures of any of their young stars from this point on they should first ask themselves ‘is this another Paul Pogba?’

And the answer with young Belgian born, Brazilian playmaker Andreas Pereira would probably be yes. Manchester United can ill afford the embarrassment or loss of quality like that which deprived them of the Frenchman in 2012, but there must now be a genuine concern that United are also going to lose this youngster.

Because his father and agent has spoken out in French publication Le10Sport about his son’s lack of first team action and questioned whether it might be the time for a move.

“All I can say is that my son wants to play to progress and that for the moment this is not the case. It is Manchester United, one of the biggest clubs in the world, but if the English agree to transfer this winter then yes, PSG would be a very good club for Andreas.”

To be honest, despite the wonderful talent of the lad, we seriously can not imagine him getting much more game time at a club like PSG right now. They are four points off the pace in the title race and still contesting The Champions League. It’s not really the sort of time in a season where you would throw on an untried youngster – especially with the playing resources on offer at PSG.

That said it must be frustrating for a lad of his talent to be biding his time in the reserves. But he must get his head down and let his football do the talking. Look at Adnan Januzaj – one of the best young players in Europe, who got game time at The World Cup, but he has accepted that he must be patient if he wants to get to the top.

Let’s see Pereira in action. Manchester United fans: is it time to give him a run in the first team?
