Manchester United face Cambridge United this evening in a potential banana skin for The Reds. Cambridge sit in mid-table in the fourth tier of English football so you might expect a walkover. But, if there was ever a match to get the Cambridge players motivated, this must be it.
If the game was at Old Trafford it would be viewed as little more than a nice day out for Cambridge. But a home tie gives them the slight whiff of an upset and, considering the visitors’ already patchy form of late, Manchester United surely won’t be looking forward to this one with any great relish.
Some Manchester United fans might be hoping for a draw, to at least ensure a bit more midweek football, after a season in which they haven’t been involved in The Champions League and got battered by MK Dons in The Capital One Cup.
But, while this could well become another Yeovilesque, clunky performance from Manchester United, we expect them to run out as victors at the first time of asking.
