One of our main focuses this week has been on Tottenham’s forward line. While they have a decent roster of strikers it doesn’t compare favourably with the other teams who are vying for a Champions League spot come May.
So we would be more surprised if Tottenham didn’t invest this winter. Mauricio Pochettino has been fairly frugal in his transfer dealings so far but expect a stream of new faces over the next few windows.
Klaas Jan Huntelaar has been mentioned in relation to a move this week and the latest name to resurface in the rumour mills is Said Berahino.
Tabloid reports on Saturday suggest that a January move could be on:
TOTTENHAM want West Brom’s £15million-rated goal machine Saido Berahino.
Spurs have set their sights on the red-hot England Under-21 striker as they look for a regular scorer under boss Mauricio Pochettino.
While there is no official word form any party we can easily imagine this one happening. Berahino’s star has risen quickly over the last 18 months and he has the quality to succeed at a top club.
He’s quick, agile and technically gifted. The 21 year old has been an England regular at youth level and has 6 goals in 9 games for West Brom this season. His club will fight tooth and nail to hold on the player – Premier League survival is worth much more to them than the £15m fee being mooted for his signature – but the cream usually rises to the top in the football world. If Berahino’s form continues like this then Tottenham won’t be the only interested party come May.
Let’s have a Frank Butcher’s at him in action. Spurts fans: Better than what you currently have up top?
