We are always banging on about how Arsenal need to sign better central players – a top a striker, anchor man, centre back and goalie.
The player being linked to Arsenal again this weekend is originally a winger but, in a rare accord with Arsene Wenger, we think that Julian Draxler could be the striking answer for Arsenal.
When his signing was originally mooted, over a year ago, the rumours suggested that Arsene wanted to transform the talented German youngster from a wide man to a centre forward.
He hasn’t been prolific in front of goal so far in his career with 28 in 153 for Schalke. But let’s not forget that Danny Welbeck had a similar scoring record when he joined Arsenal in the summer. And few complained about that acquisition.
Various reports suggest that Arsenal are ‘expected’ to make another move for the superb German as soon as the next transfer window.
Fair or not, Arsene Wenger has a reputation for lacking decisiveness in the market. There is very little not to like about Draxler but Arsenal won’t be the only interested party. If Wenger doesn’t move soon this could well be another case of the one that got away.
Let’s see some Draxler magic. Arsenal fans: can Draxler do a job up front in the biggest games?
