Liverpool will benefit from Balotelli

Top side that

Much has been said about Liverpool’s imminent signing of Mario Balotelli.

While many Liverpool fans believe that he would add quality and dynamism to an already good squad some, like Jamie Carragher have expressed doubts as to the function of the potential signing.

Never ones to sit on the fence, we think Balotelli will be an excellent player for Liverpool.

He’s got power, pace and precision, plus the attitude which might actually serve the club really well in the latter stages of a title chase or in Europe.

At 25 years of age he’s a better signing than Lambert and a better signing than Loic Remy would have been. At £16m this is a good deal.

The real question is whether he will go straight into the first 11 or be used as a substitute – cover for Sturridge.

It is of course dependent on form but Brendan Rodgers won’t want to burnout his strikeforce by playing them all at the same time.

But we think that the signing of Balotelli will allow the manager to play a very similar shape as he did last season and simply swap Balotelli in for the departed Suarez. Both are quick, mobile and determined.

So Balotelli might be asked to play in a slightly wider position and drift inwards with Sturridge in the middle.

Sterling of course has to play as well, so the fourth attacking position would could be shared between Markovic and Lallana.

Liverpool fans: Does Mario get in your starting XI?
