Liverpool are on the rampage in the market this summer and, while some supporters have been dubious about Brendan Rodgers’s signings in the past, we think he’s got a really good batch here.
Lambert is underrated, and while Adam Lallana has been bought at an exceedingly high price, he is nevertheless a good player. Markovic and Can look mint.
Another who has oft been linked with Liverpool this summer is Xherdan Shaqiri. Reports on Friday suggest that the brilliant Swiss international has been the subject of an offer from Liverpool in the region of £14.2 million.
The Metro reports:
Liverpool make £14.2million transfer offer for Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri
And The Star says:
Liverpool make a £14.2m bid for Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri
‘The Magic Dwarf‘ as he is known in Switzerland had a frustrating season at Bayern München last campaign and this was borne out at The World Cup where he let loose on the opposition.
With Lallana and Markovic expected to regularly fill the wide areas next season there were questions about whether Shaqiri was still on the radar. But he’s a natural left footer who can play up top and on the wing.
So not only will he add balance to the team but also be a really interchangeable figure for Liverpool.
We think that this guy is well worth the punt. At just 22 he’s a balletic bulldozer of a man. He’s strong as an ox, with a low centre of gravity (5ft 6.5in), but also the most velvety of touches.
He’s also got a decent return of 12 goals in 32 starts for a fairly average Switzerland side, so he knows where the goal is. Oh and he’s really quick too. So there’s very little not to like about the lad. He could easily turn out to be the buy of the summer for Brendan Rodgers if Liverpool invest.
Let’s see some of his highlights. Liverpool fans: a worthwhile addition?
