According to sources at The Daily Star, Arsenal could move for highly rated right back Juanfran if their pursuit of Ivorian Serge Aurier fails.
The 29 year old has been in superb form this season, helping Atletico Madrid win La Liga and reach the Champions League final.
Arsene Wenger will have to bring in a replacement for Bacary Sagna, who looks set to join Manchester City, as the only other player in the first team capable of playing that position is the inexperienced Carl Jenkinson.
Although Arsenal have been pursuing the 22 year old Aurier as their ideal transfer target, the North London club may look to a player with more experience in order to ensure the club remain competitive.
The Spanish player has already played in The Champions League and The Europa League, gathering plenty of European experience. He also has major honours including the Copa del Rey, La Liga, Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup where he was part of the team that beat Chelsea in the final. Additionaly the full back has also achieved 6 caps for Spanish national team.
Juanfran has had an excellent season, playing an important role in Atletico’s success. He will play in the Champions League final on Saturday against Real Madrid before going to Brazil as part of the Spain team for the World Cup.
The defender started his career at Real Madrid, making his way from the reserve team to the senior squad. However, he only played 6 times for Los Blancos before being sent on loan to Espanyol. He was later sold to Osasuna where he made 148 league appearances. In 2011 Atletico Madrid bought him for €4 million.
