We wouldn’t pretend that the transfer window is anywhere near boiling point just yet. As with most silly seasons in the market, clubs tend to keep their cards close to their chest until towards the end of January, when big-money starts changing hands.
It would take a lot for soccersweep to be flabbergasted but we would be absolutely gobsmacked if Arsenal didn’t strengthen their forward line at all this month. The signing of Mesut Ozil has broadened the horizons of our perception – as far as the press are concerned Arsenal are now competing with the big boys in terms of transfers.
Perhaps a dozen names have been doing the rounds in relation to potential arrivals, from Benzema, through Berbatov, to Morata. But one of the hottest properties in Europe has recently stated a serious desire to join Arsenal.
Jackson Martinez, nicknamed Cha Cha Cha for his dancing feet, is a goal machine in the strictest sense, having scored 38 goals in just 44 appearances, since joining Porto in 2012. He is widely quoted as having stated a penchant for Arsenal this week. He said:
“I cheered for Arsenal when I was a kid – I love their style of play,”
“It’s flowing and open with a lot of first touch passes. It would be suitable for a player like me.”
We think that this story could have legs. Unlike most other high profile strikers, Martinez will be available in the January window and he would clearly be keen on making a move. At 27 years of age he has miles left in the tank and could prove to be the signing of the transfer window if Arsenal do make a move. At a reported cost of £30 million plus he wouldn’t be cheap that he could make a difference between Arsenal win the title and having another season of being close but no cigar.
Let’s see the goal machine in action. Arsenal fans – is Martinez the sort of quality that you need and is he worth the money?

Yes Please! Sign him up!
Martinez for me is summed up at 1:40 in the Scout Nation video. Getting the job done, however possible. Pace, power and ingenuity. He’s worth every penny.
