The improved recent form of Fernando Torres has left some thinking that Chelsea don’t really need another striker.
Where others have failed, the current Chelsea boss seems to be getting something like the best out of the Spaniard, after a couple of years of very average form.
If The Special One can help Torres find his magical scoring boots once more then questions over who to sign might become irrelevant. With Samuel Eto’o there also Chelsea aren’t exactly struggling for high profile forwards.
Yet there is a sense that Chelsea are perhaps still keen on adding a top drawer finisher- someone who could put the icing on the cake and properly exploit the innumerable chances that the midfield creates.
The Chelsea boss likes strikers who not only have a fantastic touch but are also physically strong and imposing. Didier Drogba played for Chelsea during their most successful period and perhaps Mourinho is looking for something similar.
How about Robert Lewandowski? Although Bayern Munchen are still favourites to snap him up, at 7/1 with Skybet, Chelsea (along with Arsenal) are favourite amongst the Premier League clubs – at odds of 10/1 with the bookmaker.
Of all the strikers linked with Chelsea this guy seems as if he could be the perfect package. Whether it would be possible to sign him at this stage remains highly debatable. But in terms of his intelligence, power and goalscoring instinct, he seems as if he would be ideal for the Mourinho template.
Chelsea fans would you prefer Lewandowski or Falcao given the choice?
