After immediately making public their capture of Mario Gotze a few days back, Bayern Munich have been equally swift in commenting on their other main reported target Robert Lewandowski. The Polish international, who is currently plying his trade at Borussia Dortmund, is also clearly of interest to Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson. Bayern’s official statement may change the opinions of many in the press, who believe that a deal with Bayern has already been struck.
The club website has confirmed that Bayern “has no contract with Robert Lewandowski”.
A few days ago, Lewandowski’s agent was quoted as saying:
“There is a very interesting offer for Robert which fulfils entirely the demands set by Dortmund and also the demands of Robert. Dortmund have assured us that Robert can move at the end of the season under these conditions. We stick to agreements and now it’s up to the clubs to sort things out.”
soccersweep believes that Lewandowski will probably go to Manchester United. Having made the massively unpopular decision to sell their playmaker Mario Gotze to their biggest rivals, surely there would be rioting if Dortmund agreed sell their other jewel to the team who they compete with most closely. It would be tantamount to handing Bayern the title for the next few years.
So, while Lewandowski may not end up at Manchester United, a transfer away from Germany would appear to be the most likely option for the player. But hey, a year ago a transfer of RvP to Manchester United seemed impossible.
At any rate, we should know in the next few weeks whether this talented marksman will be playing his football at Manchester United from this autumn.
