In an ever more competitive transfer market, Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United still usually manage to hold their own. Despite the new mega-rich clubs such as PSG and Manchester City coming to the fore, Manchester United have still done decent business over the last few years, snaring such stars as Robin van Persie and Shinji Kagawa.
But an area of arguable weakness in the Manchester United side, over the last 5 years, has been the centre of midfield. Scores of players have been linked to big-money moves to the club, such as Wesley Sneijder, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Luka Modric. All would cost a huge amount of money to bring to the North West. Sadly for Manchester United, it appears that they let a world star of the future leave for a song.
Since he left the club in the summer, Paul Pogba by has become an important part of the Juventus side, scoring 5 goals in 25 appearances and showing what an incredible player he could become. He’s also become a full France international in 2013, in what promises to be a glittering career. He’s a true box-to-box midfielder who does the defensive part well but also adds attacking bite to Juventus. He loves to shoot from distance and has scored some absolute howitzers, most notably two in one game against Udinese, as seen in the video below.
Pogba felt that he would get more first team chances at Juventus and that was his official reason for leaving Manchester United. Money was cited by others as his motive for the move. But it does seem strange that he was allowed to leave when Manchester United clearly need a player like him in the engine room.
Manchester United may rue the day that they lost Pogba to Juventus.

Add Pique, Rossi to that list. It appears Utd’s management has a problem with top youngsters. Obviously they have problems with established superstars all the time. Robson, Keane, Stam, Van Nistelrooy, Beckham and now Rooney. Pogba is now easily the best young midfielder in Europe. When Utd say they let go Pique because of Evans, Pogba for Cleverley, you wonder if a neurological examination is in order for those at Utd management.

We have never regret things that didn’t happen at UNITED… And we will not start doing that because we believe we have let a lot of world class stars go for examples Jaap Stam, Ronaldinho, David Beckham, Wesley Sneijder, Petr Cech and many more but we still competing for the title. No doubt about it, Pogba would be a world class footballer and that is good for him but his character doesn’t suit the character that is required to play for UNITED… And the outcome is good for both, UNITED and Paul Pogba…
