So the transfer window is about to shut for a few months and Sir Alex has stated that, after securing Alex Buttner, Angelo Henriquez, RVP, Nick Powell and Shinji Kagawa, he won’t be buying any more players for now.
However, reports yesterday suggested that the Manchester United boss made a last ditch attempt to sign the brilliant Moussa Dembele, before he joined Tottenham. So, could Fergie still be plotting one more move?
It’s unlikely at this stage but if Nani was sold, for example, then another left winger may be on the cards. Here are a few (realistic and other) suggestions for last minute summer splurges by Manchester United.
Nicolas Gaitan
The Gaitan to United saga has been a strange one indeed. He seemed set for Manchester United when The Independent reported that a deal had been struck in the winter of 2011. His form has been erratic since the speculation began and any deal now seems distant. He does however retain a wonderful left foot and Ashley Young isn’t doing a great impression of a Manchester United player so far.
Gareth Bale
It’s highly unlikely that the purse strings would be loosened to this extent during the Glazer regime but Gareth Bale is a player who would immediately improve the first team. It’s a time of transition at Tottenham and with AVB in charge noone really knows what is going to happen at Spurs this season. Bale to United is a pipe dream at the moment but things can change quickly and, by Christmas, the idea may not seem so outlandish. He would certainly have the Manchester United fans salivating and many believe that he is the true successor to Mr.Giggs.
Arjen Robben
The brilliant winger from Holland has been a great success at Bayern but it feels like the end of a cycle for the German club and Robben probably has one more big move in him. His style of play would suit United down to the ground and he would probably be forgiven for snubbing the club earlier in his career if he brought his recent form to Manchester.

i rather insist on van der vaart since dembele is out of reach or any spectacular midfielder that can control d midfield, as for young he should be sold, nani and valencia are rather better from the flanks
