Finally Chelsea appear have their man. After at least 2 prior attempts to prise the starlet from Germany, Chelsea have reportedly struck a £20m deal to bring Andre Schurrle to The Premier League. The Blues have spent the last couple of seasons stockpiling technically astute, creative maestros and Schurrle certainly fits in to this category. He’s only 22 but has matured quickly into a goal scoring wide man with 16 goals in 60 games for Bayer Leverkusen and 7 in 22 for a stonkingly good Germany side, who will surely eclipse Spain before too long.
Schurrle is a right-footer who often plays on the left and likes to cut in. He also possesses the sadly dieing ability to dribble and beat his man. Furthermore, Schurrle loves to shoot from long range, as this video amply illustrates. So there appear to be few downsides to this exciting signing. Quite who made the decision to buy him is one question – Chelsea technical director Michael Emenalo is believed to be making the decisions on signings these days. The other is where he will fit into the side. Chelsea currently have the talents of Mata, Hazard, Oscar and Marin to call on in the creative midfield/attack. But I suppose you can’t have too many good players in your squad. And this lad looks like the mut’s nuts.
All Chelsea need now is a world-class striker, wouldn’t you agree?
