113 goals in 264 club games – Liverpool keen on forward in his prime?

Well worth a punt

Liverpool have the look of a squad with the bit between their teeth and virtually all the tools they require to have a great season.

A nice mixture of youth and experience with the added depth brought about by a busy summer in the transfer market.

But one question which hasn’t necessarily yet been answered is how Liverpool will deal with the loss of Luis Suarez.

Departures of this size are virtually impossible to compensate for – just ask Manchester United and Tottenham, who are arguably still suffering from the losses of Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.

In reality Liverpool aren’t going to get anyone as good as Suarez unless they sign Radamel Falcao. But they certainly have to do something about it because, at present, they only have really top quality in the form of Daniel Sturridge – a player with just one full prolific season to his name.

We’d love to see Falcao at Liverpool but failing that they do need to sign a player of proven goal scoring ability.

They have been linked of late with Guiseppi Rossi of Fiorentina. He’s only had one full season at the Italian club but has made a big impression with 17 goals in 24 games. Basically, when fit, this guy scores goals.

Rossi is a natural finisher who has been unlucky with injury but who, at 27, looks like he’s about to have his best few years.

He may also feel that he has something to prove in England having been let go by a Manchester United squad which had an embarassment of riches up top back then.

We strongly believe that Rossi would be a good signing for Liverpool and The Daily Mail reports:

Liverpool have made enquiries for Fiorentina’s former Manchester United striker Giuseppe Rossi.

The Italy international has a £28million release clause but Liverpool will hope to drive the price down for the 27-year-old.

Even at that price we think he’s worth a punt because he guarantees you the goals which noone else but Sturridge currently can.

Lambert will of course chip in with his fair share. But, come February, when players start to tire and The Champions League is getting serious, Liverpool will be desperate for a player like this.

Let’s see some clips. Liverpool fans: worth the cash?
