22 goals in 63 Caps: Liverpool to bring in A-lister?

Stunners

Liverpool are reportedly prepared to spend big to bring in Edinson Cavani if they fail to reach an agreement for a potential deal for Radamel Falcao.

With their pursuit of big name strikers failing so far this summer, Liverpool are said to be looking at a loan deal for Falcao. The striker is one of the best in world football but the Merseyside club face tough competition to land him as he has also attracted interest from the likes of Real Madrid and Juventus.

With that transfer hanging in the balance, The Metro reports that Rodgers has made Cavani his second highest target after the Colombian forward.

Liverpool are set to return for PSG forward Edinson Cavani if their attempts to sign Radamel Falcao on loan prove fruitless.

While PSG have so far not shown much interest in selling the striker they are looking to buy Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid. But having broken Financial Fair Play rules last year, the French side would need to sell in order to free up funds. This puts Cavani’s future in Paris in doubt.

The player is also believed to want a move away from the Ligue 1 champions despite publically talking down a potential move. Since joining PSG in 2013, he has mainly been forced to play on the wings as Zlatan Ibrahimovic was the preferred striker.
A transfer to club where he would have more opportunity to play in his favoured position might well persuade him to leave France. Any move could be impacted by the recent injury suffered by Zlatan – the severity of which isn’t yet fully known.

The 27-year-old would certainly give Liverpool more of an attacking edge. Despite playing mostly on the flank for PSG he still managed to score 17 goals in 31 games in Ligue 1, while he managed a hugely impressive 104 goals in 138 appearances in all competitions for Napoli playing as a striker.

Let’s see Cavani in action: Liverpool fans – a feasible deal?
