Arsenal get thumbs up for bargain transfer – report

The Express has reported that Arsenal have been told that they are free to begin negotiations over the transfer of striker Loic Remy. The 27 year old has been keen for a move to a Champions League club so that he can show off his talents at the highest level. The source reports:

ARSENAL have been given the green light to pursue an £8million move for Loic Remy.

This would help Arsenal as both Tottenham and Newcastle are also battling for his signature, but neither will be playing in Europe’s top club competition next season.

The same source quotes the player as saying:

“The World Cup is a showcase for me. Newcastle want to buy me. I do not know if I’ll stay there. I’m at a turning point in my career. It can push forward or stagnate.”

The Frenchman has impressed since he first arrived in England from Marseille. He joined QPR in 2013 and scored 6 goals in only 14 league games before the club was relegated to the Championship. Harry Redknapp then loaned out the player to Newcastle where he had an impressive scoring record, contributing 14 goals in 26 appearances.

Fast, powerful and clinical Remy is widely seen as a competent striker and he could easily integrate into Arsenal’s team. His experience of The Premier League should mean that he won’t need time to acclimatise to the English game and his nationality should make him an ideal partner for fellow French compatriot Oliver Giroud.

Arsenal are known to be hunting forwards to provide cover for Giroud after the striker played in almost every league game for the club in the past season, as well as a number of cup games. Remy would lend a different dynamic to the North London club’s attack, being more pacey and direct than Giroud.

Let’s remind ourselves of the quality of Remy.

he would be a very good buy,BUT the seceptics would say we buy cheap we should spend £40 mill on all players, but i see it as wise, this frees money up for more talent like griezmann and di maria, them two can score and create goals for the likes of giroud walcott and remy,we also should buy ruddy-aurier and williams/lescot and barry,we could sell vermaelen(10)monreal(5)arteta(5)diarby(?)podolski(10)miyaichi(3)we will then be in a better position then to add more cover and squad players.only my thougths.

Selling Podolsky would be a mistake. He is a world class forward, and a loyal Gunner. Diaby, if fully recovered, is a top class player, as good as Khedira, plus we lack enforcing DMs. Selling Vermaelen, without a solid depth in the midfield, is wrong. The team needs to be improved, with a couple additions to strengthen the starting 11 and rotation, and not rebuilt with six or more players.
