The thought of Robin van Persie winning the Premier League with Manchester United is still enough to make Arsenal fans shudder.
It was thought that the Gunners would never allow their star forward to leave for another English club, but as his contract ticked down, how wrong we all were.
There is a very real danger that it could happen again, with both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil entering the final years of their respective deals.

As for Sanchez, he wants £250,000, but that should be pocket money to Roman Abramovich.
In theory, Arsenal could pay that too even if it meant smashing their existing wage structure. What they can’t compete with is Chelsea’s imminent success, and you can’t blame players for wanting to be a part of that.
The 28-year-old has failed to win a title or advance past the last-16 of the Champions League in his entire time at Arsenal, and it looks as if it’s going to come back to haunt them.
