Arsenal are close to completing a deal for defender Rob Holding, according to the Sun.
Bolton have accepted a bid of £2million for the England under-21 international, who has already undergone a medical in north London.
Personal terms are now being negotiated with the player, who can play at centre-back or right-back.
The Trotters were reluctant to let him go as Arsenal and Bournemouth circled, but realistically, Holding was always going to move on after the club finished bottom of the Championship last year.
The 20-year-old is too good to be playing in the third tier of English football, but it will be interesting to see how he fares under Arsene Wenger.
Arsenal needed to bring in some cover at centre-back, with Per Mertesacker ageing and Laurent Koscielny reportedly the subject of interest from Barcelona.
Holding can provide cover, and even if he’s unlikely to make much of an impact this season in the league, there’s every chance Wenger will give him a chance to prove himself in the cup competitions.
