Klopp urges Liverpool to resolve Allen stalemate

Jurgen Klopp has urged Liverpool to resolve Joe Allen’s uncertain future one way or the other.

Speaking after the Reds’ impressive 5-0 preseason win over lower-league Fleetwood Town, Klopp told Sky Sports:

“We will find a solution but it’s not done.”

“We have to make decisions, we have to find solutions.”

Allen has been linked with a move away for some time, but Liverpool have struggled to command the £14million they’re asking for, having so far only received an £8million bid from Swansea.

The midfielder’s future might have been resolved sooner were it not for his role in taking Wales all the way to the semi-finals of Euro 2016, even earning a surprise spot in UEFA’s Team of the Tournament.

It’s not definite that Allen will leave Merseyside, but it looks likely because he has just a year left on his contract and was in and out of Klopp’s team last season.

The 26-year-old came into form towards the end of last season, when Liverpool’s Europa League run allowed him more game time in the Premier League as Klopp opted to rotate.

His latest exploits have clearly given his manager some serious thinking to do, but Liverpool need to make a decision before the season starts.
