Southampton striker Sadio Mane is set to undergo a medical at Liverpool ahead of his proposed move to Anfield, according to the BBC.
The two clubs have now agreed a fee for the forward, who is costing around £34million.
That’s almost as much as Liverpool shelled out for their record transfer in £35million Andy Carroll a few years back, so that highlights how badly they need Mane in their side.
He grabbed Jurgen Klopp’s attention with a man-of-the-match performance against Liverpool in a game that Southampton won 3-2 after being 2-0 down.
Since then, Klopp has been keen on making him a Red, and it is expected he will replace Christian Benteke, who is expected to move on after an underwhelming spell on Merseyside.
Southampton are now set to lose arguably their two most important players, Victor Wanyama and Mane, in the space of a few days.
Yet, the Saints are getting used to summers like this, and every time they come back stronger, so it will be interesting to see how they fare next season.
