Dimitri Payet is France’s man of the moment after his stunning winner in the host nation’s 2-1 win against Romania.
Payet ensured Euro 2016 got underway in unbelievable style, but while West Ham fans were quick to praise their midfield hero, who has been doing that kind of thing all season, they will fear it could spell the end of his time in east London.
The free-kick specialist has been linked with several clubs already.
The Express report that Real Madrid are interested in adding him to their glittering attack, though it’s only expected they’ll only make a bid if they can offload James Rodriguez first.
Chelsea are now also being linked with Payet, as the Blues hope to reignite their stagnant midfield next season.
Gianluca Di Marzio, a journalist with Sky Italy, believes Chelsea are willing to splash out on the 29-year-old.
However, the major problem with all of these links, Di Marzio suggests, is that Payet is quite happy to stay at West Ham.
They will be in the Europa League next season, so he will have at least some form of European football to look forward to.
He also believes West Ham are growing under Slaven Bilic, and if he stays, he can be part of something special at the club.
