Liverpool really can’t afford to lose Philippe Coutinho.
Jurgen Klopp has previously stressed that if the Reds are to push on, they need players who are committed to the club and are not interested in jumping ship for a Champions League side.
It looks as though Coutinho’s dedication to that project is about to be tested, though.
Paris Saint-Germain are interested in the tricky Brazilian and have made contact with his representatives, according to The Independent.
He scored 12 goals last season, but it is his overall contribution to Liverpool’s creative play that makes it so crucial that they hold onto him.
This summer really could be make or break for the Reds, and if they lose Coutinho, they will struggle to challenge for the top four against next season.
The only upside to selling him to PSG would be that the Parisians have such incredible wealth at their disposal.
The 23-year-old may be tempted by the wages they are set to offer him, but Liverpool could also make the most of the proceeds of the sale.
Admittedly, they haven’t really done that with the money from the Raheem Sterling and Luis Suarez transfers, but with Klopp in charge, they have a better chance of their squad going in the right direction.
