Liverpool teen vilified after nightmare debut

Pedro

LIVERPOOL boss Jurgen Klopp clearly had one eye on his side’s return clash with Villarreal in the Europa League when he named the team to take on Swansea on Sunday.

The Reds fielded a number of unfamiliar names, with several youngsters getting a chance to impress.

However, Klopp’s kids were well and truly outplayed, going down 3-1 at the Liberty Stadium and unfortunately, not many of the youngsters made a positive impact.

Pedro Chirivella, who joined Liverpool from Valencia in 2013 and only recently signed a new deal until 2020, certainly had a debut to forget.

The 18-year-old Spaniard was thrown in at the deep end against a strong Swansea midfield with the similarly inexperienced Kevin Stewart alongside him and he struggled before being replaced at the break by Lucas Leiva – much to the pleasure of Reds fans.

Here is some of the reaction to his difficult first taste of Premier League action…

Brett Kraut @brett_kraut
“Chirivella and Stewart were dreadful and looked lost.”

Alan Gunn @AlanGunn2429
“Don’t think Chirivella will be playing under Klopp or even in a #LFC jersey for a while.”

ewenmacintosh @ewenmacintosh
“Hopefully Chirivella will be on a plane home by full time.”

Jeff Greer @jeffgreer543
“Pedro Chirivella on how to end a Liverpool career in 45 minutes.”

Hardly a ringing endorsement! But let’s hope the kid gets a chance to redeem himself at some stage.
