West Ham defender attracts Klopp interest

Aaron Caswell

Liverpool will reportedly go in for West Ham left-back Aaron Cresswell at the end of the season.

The defender joined the Hammers from Ipswich Town in 2014 and has since made 84 appearances including 42 appearances in all competitions this season.

According to the Sun, the 26-year-old performance caught the attention of the Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp who is expected to invade the market this summer.

Cresswell, who spent time at the Liverpool academy before being released to join Tranmere Rovers, is currently contracted to West Ham until the summer of 2020.

If Cresswell wants to go I suppose there is no point trying to keep him. But he would be a sad loss. He’s not the greatest defensively, but he’s good enough. Going forward he’s a class act, with great awareness and crossing ability; and he combines very well with Payet and Lanzini. He wouldn’t get the same game time at The Kop but if his heart is really with his boyhood club that might not be enough to put him off. If the chance comes and he decides to take it then good luck to him. He’s given West Ham a great two seasons and if his dream is to play for the reds then he should follow it. But I worry that if he does he might live to regret it.
