MADADOU SAKHO has not been short of critics since joining Liverpool in 2013 but he’s gone some way to redeeming himself this year with some impressive displays for the Reds.
And he certainly shot up the popularity stakes with one Liverpool fan who was given a nice surprise after losing his mobile phone on the pitch while celebrating the Reds’ winning goal against Borussia Dortmund in their Europa League quarter-final tie.
Liamie Marum was in the Kop end to see his side record one of the most famous European results in their history on Thursday, but he got a little carried away in the raucous celebrations as he got back to his seat and realised he no longer had his phone in his possession.
Moments after the pandemonium died down, a steward at the ground approached Liamie and handed him his device back.
After checking his photos, he noticed Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho had got his hands on the phone and taken a selfie alongside Divock Origi!
“Well what can I say but unbelievable,” Liamie wrote on Facebook. “I lost my phone celebrating nearly on top of (Dejan) Lovren at the corner flag and I lost my phone.
“After everyone eventually went back to the Kop, the security came up handed me my phone back as I was sitting on row 3. I checked it just now and look.”
