Benteke happy at Liverpool

Liverpool striker Christian Benteke has hinted that he is “really happy” at Anfield despite his struggles to make the first team.

The Belgian joined Liverpool from Aston Villa last summer with a reported £32 million fee and has scored eight in 32 appearances.

There have been speculations that, the Belgium international will quit Liverpool this summer after struggling to make it pass Daniel Sturridge and Divork Origi in the pecking order but he suggested that he will stay at Anfield beyond next summer.

“Obviously it has not been the best season for me here,” Benteke said in Liverpool’s matchday programme. “I haven’t played like I want to and that is frustrating but this is part of football.

“Even though things have not been as I wanted I’m really happy here. Playing for this club is exciting, just like what I thought it would be. Now I want to finish this season well.”

The likes of West Ham United and Atletico Madrid have been linked with moves for the bulky striker, Benteke.
