Opinion: Man United’s dirtiest player

MANCHESTER UNITED face an uphill battle in order to reach the quarter-finals of the Europa League after losing 2-0 to Liverpool at Anfield in the first leg of their Round of 16 tie.

It was an insipid display by Louis van Gaal’s side with very few – if any – positives to take out of the match.

The only plus for the visitors was that their own Marouane Fellaini could well be suspended for the return encounter at Old Trafford after aiming an elbow at Liverpool’s Emre Can in the dying stages.

To say the ungainly Belgian is not a favourite of United supporters would be one of the great understatements.

He’s never really been accepted as a ‘United player’ since arriving from Everton for £27.5million in 2013.

Here are a small selection of twitter comments from Red Devils fans following the defeat at Andield.

“Louis van gaal deserves a horrible death for playing Fellaini full time” Demmie @d1_homid

“Fellaini, please leave Utd, that performance tonight was an embarrassment to the Utd shirt” Justin Long @ jut74

“If Fellaini plays next week I’ll be amazed, he was awful tonight, he always is awful” Jack @ JMConnor

Fellaini’s shortcomings as a footballer are only half the problem, his conduct on the pitch is appalling and he continually engages in dirty and malicious tactics – usually off the ball.

In the past he’s been accused of spitting, elbowing and stamping on opponents. He continually lets both himself and his club down and surely he will be one of the first players out of Old Trafford in the summer.

Will United’s hopes against Liverpool be boosted if Fellaini is suspended?

Fellaini has alots of problems this season in the shirt of man utd but people should know that, this come from his lack of games times. so when u look at the whole team no any single player that is forming throughout this campaign, any player is struggling under VAN GAL. Even cr7 and messi can’t make it under VAN GAL. so if we look this catergorically we will understand this happen due to lack of COACH tactics both in field and off field. we don’t blame player in this conditions, all what is just sack VAN GAL
