Manchester United transfers: LvG says club is ‘very busy’ addressing lack of creativity

Get it done

Noone likes to see a man suffering in the way that Louis van Gaal is right now.

In his whole carer as a manager he may never have faced such a barrage of criticism as this.

From our perspective, there is a very genuine concern that he doesn’t know what the solution is.

Based on the lack of improvement in performances over the last few months it doesn’t appear that he is affecting positive change within the Manchester United team.

He’s spent a fortune so far but his latest comments may suggest that he is about to take another zero off the bank balance.

Speaking about the team overall, The Guardian quotes him as saying:

“Our difficulty is not our defensive organisation – that you can see. But the stats in the attacking direction are not so good so we have to improve that part, especially in the third and fourth phase.”

And in terms of that attacking third of the pitch he perhaps alluded to more investment in January:

At this moment we have a lack of creativity. We have to lift that and we are very busy with that.

The obvious target right now is Felipe Anderson – he would directly address the lack of speed and creativity in the side. But Lazio have confirmed this week that they are yet to receive a bid from Manchester United, or anyone else, for the brilliant 22 year old.

The Daily Mail quotes Lazio Sporting director Igli Tare as saying:

‘So far we haven’t received anything from Manchester United. He is going through a negative period of form and he knows that, we talked a great deal.’

As with the signing of Anthony Martial, Manchester United may have a transfer ace up their sleeve but Anderson appears the most obvious choice right now.

Perhaps a shock punt on Saido Berahino wouldn’t be the worst decision in the world this January?
