Much of the time when Louis van Gaal has been questioned about the progress, or lack of, at Manchester United, he has spoken about his ‘process’.
He perhaps believes that sometimes you have to go backwards before you can progress as a football club. But surely not for 18 months and with £250m spent with no discernible improvement?
We have always liked Louis van Gaal the man. He has been supremely respectful of Manchester United and, anyone who saw his speech at the end of season awards will know that he has put his heart and soul into the club.
He isn’t the arrogant autocrat that his biggest detractors state. Any top manager has to show that he is the boss and that the buck stops with him. Louis does that.
But he is a manager who has joined the most challenging league in the world at a time when he is on the wane. Perhaps there was a modicum of arrogance in thinking that he could come to Manchester United and beat all-comers having never sampled England in his entire career.
19 months into the job as Manchester United manager. Almost countless millions spent and the squad is arguably worse than the one he inherited. Indeed, the squad that Fergie left behind surely never played as badly as this incarnation did against Sheffield United at Old Trafford on Satuhrday evening.
All this leads us to ask,
What part of the process is this then Louis?

He has a contract until 2017. It is quite simply ,not working. The youth that are coming through, look confused by his tactics and so called ‘preparation’. Brian McClair has not been replaced. What is coming through looks shaky and hesitant. It is a serious situation. The options are Mourinho (a cheque book manager, who does not develop youth), Giggs who is untested as a manager but along with Gary Neville, Meulensen and Mick Phelen is a possibility.
Van Gaal is lost and is struggling. Ed Woodward is brilliant with commercial deals but not so good with signing new players. We have a few bad players such as FELLAINI. We have 2 midfielders that are one paced and passed their best in CARRICK and SCHWEINSTEIGER. We have MATA ,MARTIAL & HERRERA playing out of position and paid 25m for a one trick pony from Holland. We are in serious trouble, but not to worry, we have now got the new philosophy.
