Dreadful

It sounds ridiculous to some. Indeed, many Manchester United fans are still showing loyalty towards club manager Louis van Gaal, despite the chaos on the pitch.

We suppose that they remain hopeful that the infrastructure of the club is still sound and that the right decisions will be made.

But we are speaking to a growing throng of Manchester United fans who actually want to see their team lose.

Not through bitterness or hatred of Louis van Gaal. But because they feel that defeats will eventually force the arguably indecisive hand of execetuve vice chairman Ed Woodward.

soccersweep agrees. Woodward is anything but trigger happy and it seems almost impossible to get sacked as manager of Manchester United these days.

But with the gapingly obvious solution of Jose Mourinho waiting in the wings, we feel that only defeats can affect a positive change at the club in the longer-term.

Despite his protestations, Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal seems to be fighting a personal battle with the press these days. Perhaps he has begun to overlook the most important issue of performances on the pitch and is now trying to protect his own reputation.

Manchester United clearly wants to buck the modern trend and show that it is a club loyal to its managers. But, to what end? What is that policy achieving right now?

Manchester United is a serial winner with proud attacking traditions. They aren’t winning with any regularity and they certainly aren’t performing well right now, or for the last 18 months.

Louis van Gaal has regularly insisted that he will leave Manchester United when it is clear he is not wanted.

But the verity of that sentiment is surely being tested to its limits now as the players simply aren’t performing for him and Van Gaal cannot have failed to spot the many fans Manchester United in the crowd at Old Trafford on Saturday evening who gave him the thumbs down when as he exited the pitch.

Manchester United fans: are you feverishly refreshing the the sports pages on your preferred websites in the hope that Louis van Gaal has been sacked?
