There has been a swell of speculation surrounding the future of Marouane Fellaini since the January window opened.
There is an assumption in some corners that he is an easy target for the rumour mongers, having been a peripheral member of the squad this season.
But we feel that there may be substance to the speculation, with respected Italian news outlet, Gazetto Dello Sport stating that:
Milan leads the hunt for giant Fellaini. But they knows they have insidious rivals. In recent days the CEO Adriano Galliani has been very active in contacts with the entourage of the Belgian midfielder of Manchester United, but on the trail of the player arrived at Old Trafford in the summer of 2013 there are also some of the protagonists of the fight Scudetto .
In other words, Juve, Inter and Roma also want the big Belgian who stands at 6ft 4in plus change (1.94m).
We get the sense that Manchester United may be willing to let Fellaini leave the club but only on a permanent deal. A club of Manchester United’s riches doesn’t need someone else to pay his wages – he might as well stay at Old Trafford and continue to be used sporadically by LvG as the ‘plan B’ when United are chasing a game with the clock running down.
But if a club came up with a proper offer, then it might be a good time for Manchester United to cash in on a 28-year-old who doesn’t fulfil an obvious, full-time function for a club wth such spectacular football traditions.
