Wow. How much did Liverpool need Jurgen Klopp?
Things had become stagnant at the club under Brendan Rodgers who, toward the end of his tenure, looked increasingly like a lost child.
He’s a good coach but sometimes you pass the point of no return and it’s impossible to change things.
Now Klopp is in and he made an immediate impact on the way the team played.
Liverpool initially seemed to have lost their fear under the German and were once more respecting their best traditions of attacking football.
Things haven’t panned out so well in the last few weeks as bad losses have undermined his work. But we feel that these are teething troubles more than longer-term maladies.
In general, it’s difficult not to see a bright future at the club. We think that Liverpool will be very close to, if not in, The Champions League places for next season and we can see them making a title challenge next year – perhaps still this season but definitely next.
