Manchester United will find out this week whether their midfield dynamo, Bastian Schweinsteiger, will face any action for his alleged elbow on Winston Reid in the 0-0 draw with West Ham at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Although he still isn’t at his very best, the German World Cup winner has been steadily improving since he joined Manchester United in the summer and his fitness has improved vastly in the last 3 months.
But his presence in the am is in doubt after The Mirror reported:
Manchester United midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger could face three-match ban for clash with Winston Reid
With Morgan Schneiderlin hobbling off the field on Saturday and Michael Carrick just back from injury, Manchester United can ill afford to lose a player who is becoming increasingly important to this team.
Ander Herrera has also been crocked of late, leaving only Marouane Fellaini as back up in the engine room.
The small crumb of comfort is that any retrospective ban will of course only include Premier League games so Schweinsteiger will be available for the crunch clash with Wolfsburg on Tuesday night come what may.
We have to say that this incident doesn’t look pretty in slow motion and we could easily envisage a ban for this one.
