‘We Need Speed’: Louis targets more wingers for Manchester United – who are they?

Louis van Gaal may have adopted a questionable style of play at Manchester United but you currently can’t argue with the fact that this man is box office every time he speaks.

In his latest public comments he has again fuelled the fires of speculation by suggesting that he is in the market for more attackers – specifically wide men.

“I have said already in my first year many times we need speed and creativity on the wings.

“You have seen that now we play with Jesse Lingard and he is not the most speedy winger in the world and Mata is also not the most speedy winger in the world.

“So first we must first finish that problem and then we can see how we have to play and how we are in balance with playing with speedy wingers.”

“It is also dependable on what I can buy. I want to buy a lot of players but not all the players I want are for sale. So there are a lot of factors in it.”

We look at the top 5 players who he could feasibly go for in January.

Sadio Mane

Mane: Potential Game Changer

Mane: Potential Game Changer

The 23 year old Senegalese forward seems to be getting better by the week.

He’s become the main man at Southampton and they would put up a huge fight to keep him if Manchester United came in.

But he must have a price and could well be the next arrival at Old Trafford.

Marco Reus

A superb talent who will probably play for one more giant in his career. Two beautiful feet and great pace. Reus would be a superstar at Manchester United.

Antoine Griezmann

Another who would be extremely difficult to sign in January, but he has the explosive pace and quality to deliver the goods.

Alexandre Lacazette

Not a natural winger but he is a very interesting prospect and could surely add cutting edge to United’s front line, be it up top or out wide in a 4-3-3/4-2-3-1.

Felipe Anderson

Perhaps a little less known to the world but possibly the best of the lot.
