Manchester United star Memphis Depay has admitted that he is taking time to settle in to his new club but that his form is not the best right now.
Manchester United signed Depay for big money in the summer and his impact was immediate.
But he his progress has slowed somewhat and seems to have lost the confidence of United manager and Dutch countryman Louis van Gaal having been dropped to the bench in recent weeks.
But he has denied he is a bad trainer or not a team player.
“I think I’m a team player and the other players in the team also think that. I don’t think I’m in a difficult path of my career I just think my form isn’t very well right now,”
The 21 year old has decent statistics since he joined Manchester United with 13 appearances and 4 goals from wide areas. But he says that he is still adjusting:
“It’s difficult when you’re on the bench but it’s going better and it’s also going better on the training pitch,” he says.
“Lots of things have changed. I’m in a new club, it’s a different level . Such things are playing a big role and you’re trying to find your way and it was a bit easy at the start but then I fell back and you could see it in the way I played. But I’m busy working on that and getting back to the top.”
But so much was expected of the brilliant Dutchman that even those figures have been questioned.
We think that Louis van Gaal needs to give Memphis more confidence and Manchester United fans need to (and will) give him more time.
We all remember how frustrating Cristiano Ronaldo was in his early Manchester United days and many thought that he would fail to make the grade at the top level.
We see similar strengths in Depay and if he stays focused he will soon be able to put all the frustration behind him – this is a world star in the making.
Let’s see his better moments for Manchester United
