In his press conference ahead of Manchester United’s Champions League Group game against Wolfsburg on Wednesday Louis van Gaal expressed injury concerns about Ander Herrera and Antonio Valencia:
“They have minor injuries and I don’t want to take any risks,” he said of their absence from training on Tuesday.
He also stated Michael Carrick won’t play.
With Marcos Rojo and Luke Shaw already crocked, the injured list is growing but still at a manageable level.
Paddy McNair trained on Tuesday and, if Valencia doesn’t make it, then he may get a game.
In midfield United will now go with Morgan Schneiderlin and Bastian Schweinsteiger.
And, most importantly, the front four looks intact.
Because all you really care about is seeing the frighteningly good Anthony Martial play for Manchester United again isn’t it?
Throw in a liberal smattering of Memphis and it’s back to the good old days at the club.
Both should start because both are now first choice Manchester United players and this is a must win fixture against a good side.
It should be a massive night at Old Trafford and we are very much looking forward to a proper European ambience.
Here is our Manchester United XI for a game that Louis’s side simply must win.
United fans: let’s be having your elevens.
