Manchester United’s 2 problem areas which need immediate attention

Mata - Not the answer

Too Slow

The jury is still out on Sergio Romero and David de Gea will ideally return before long.

But, apart from that, Manchester United’s rear seven looks as solid as anything in The Premier League. The full backs are excellent and the new central defensive partnership looks watertight.

In front of them any two of Schneiderlin, Schweinsteiger and Carrick provide perfect protection and decent passing from the defensive midfield.

And we have no qualms over Wayne Rooney. It’s very naive of people to criticise a player who is notorious for taking time to get into his stride at the start of a campaign with that big, stocky frame.

Memphis is still inconsistent and was very frustrating on Saturday with not enough end product to go with the dazzling footwork.

But he is exactly the sort of player that this forward line needs and should play whenever fit.

Our problem is with the other two forwards. We are big fans of Adnan Januzaj but he still looks like a footballer who is used to playing in a slower tempo for the reserves. He looks ponderous at times and gets caught in possession too often.

He can become a great player for Manchester United but he needs to be assimilated slowly rather than starting every week.

And Juan Mata is out of position on the right.

He is a decent player but not dynamic. And when he gets the ball on the right, with space in front of him to attack, he usually opts to cut inside and make the game more compressed instead of exploiting the open spaces on the flank.

Louis must see that this system isn’t working.

Manchester United should move Mata inside and sign a right winger as a matter of absolute priority if they want to make a serious bid for the title this season.

Because with the current team, there is an over reliance on Memphis for pace and to make the runs down the flank.

This makes Manchester United too predictable – cut him off and the team looks one-paced and toothless.

But if they had a flyer on the right side as well, their whole attacking unit would be much quicker, more varied, effective and less predictable.

Man Utd must sign a lithel striker like Griezman; Marcos Rojo has the capability of playing in the central defence, so I call upon LVG to play him in the central defence; CHICHARITO must play full time and consectively, meaning that a player like Adnan Januzaj should be brought in second half; Chicharito must be played infront of Rooney; Thanks.
