Keenly awaited

Wow, what a story one that was. Louis has now left the building.

On Mane transfer:

What’s happening with Sadio Mane?

Louis van Gaal: “I cannot answer that question because I cannot interfere. It’s for Ed Woodward.”

On DE GEA

“I said three weeks ago that we shall evaluate De Gea after 1 September. No-one wants to listen.”

ON PEDRO:

LVG: “When I said Pedro fitted the profile I could not lie. I said yes. You (the media) said I was interested.”

“You put my comments into another context. I never said he was coming.”

ON WOODWARD:

LVG: “I have the idea you want to separate Ed Woodward with me. Never. Never, because every day I am updated by him and I trust him.”

LVG: “No-one should doubt Ed Woodward.”

Manchester United press conferences are more keenly awaited than ever under the excellent value for money tenure of Louis van Gaal.

He’s always extremely entertaining and full of great sound bites.

And with Pedro going to Chelsea this week you can guarantee that The Spaniard will be on the agenda. Why didn’t Manchester United force through a sale when they had the chance?

Jose Mourinho’s press conference comes later in the day so LvG will get the chance to make his defence about the move first, before Jose obviously gloats later.

Manchester United have also been strongly linked with Sadio Mane this week and the boss will almost immediately be asked questions about him too.

It’s going to be a frenetic period for Manchester United in the last ten days of the market but let’s not forget that there is a match to be won against Newcastle at Old Trafford tomorrow and Manchester United are once more beginning to look like the super team of old.
