Whenever we discuss midfielders and Barcelona, one name comes up more than any other from the comments of our readers.
Because, whoever we are reporting on, Barcelona fans seem to want to discuss Marco Veratti.
The 22 year old Italian midfielder is currently plying his trade at PSG but he is clearly a favourite solution amongst Barcelona fans and they will be pleased to hear his latest comments, in which he praises the club and suggests that he is flattered but any links.
He is quoted as saying:
“Barcelona are one of the strongest teams in the world, they’ve spent a long time at the top,” he told Goal.com. “When a team this good is interested in you, any player would like it, and it’s true that I like their style of play.
“Barcelona are a great team but for the moment I’m happy at PSG. Like they say, you never know what your future will be, but I’m happy where I am and I’m not thinking about changing club because you know what you lose but not what you will get.”
At just 5ft 5in you may imagine that Veratti would struggle with the physical side of the game.
But his first few yards are in his head.
He’s a pass master who may yet prove to be the natural successor to Andres Iniesta or Sergio Busquets.
He doesn’t score a lot of goals but he keeps things moving in the midfield and is almost impossible to take the ball off.
He looks as if he will have a huge future with club and country and we think that there is a good chance that he will end up at Barcelona.
Let’s take a look at the lad in a action.
