What a team: Liverpool’s Best XI if Pedro signs – 4-2-3-1

Great forward line

There has been a huge amount of speculation over the last couple of weeks about the future of Barcelona forward Pedro.

The 27-year-old looks increasingly likely to move this summer and his boss, Luis Enrique, said on Wednesday:

‘Pedro? If he wants to go, a club will have to meet his release clause.’

The sense is that the Barca boss would rather keep the lad.

But having given such good service and played second fiddle to the likes of Messi and Neymar for so long, perhaps the club will grant him his wish to leave – should he so desire.

The Express reported this week that Liverpool were preparing to hijack his move to Chelsea or Manchester United and what a player he could be for the club.

He’s got the experience that the squad perhaps lacks and he knows how to win matches having won trophy after trophy for club and country.

Liverpool’s squad is starting to look really healthy again – particularly up top. Roberto Firmino is an excellent addition and say what you like about Benteke – we think he’s going to be exactly the sort of powerful and precise number 9 that the club lacked last time out.

So how would Pedro fit into the side?

Well, his adaptability is one of his great virtues. He can play anywhere across the forward line so it’s simply a question of playing him wherever Liverpool are weakest.

With Sturridge not back yet we think that Liverpool’s four best attackers are Benteke, Coutinho, Firmino and, if he signed, Pedro.

So here is how we would line them up, in a 4-2-3-1. A new keeper and the team would look spellbinding.

As a devoted Liverpool supporter, this has been by far the best pre-season I can ever remember for years, I genuinely think Liverpool can win the league this up and coming campaign, never mind the top four, I don’t believe Pedro will be signing for our club, that would be asking for some sort of divine intervention, however bring it on. Brendan Rodgers is going to have a selection headache, especially if all his players are fit. The GK position is one that I feel wasn’t properly addressed as Mignolet needs much stiffer competition. Really hoping Lovren comes good this season, as the central defence needs to be rock solid if Liverpool are going to reap rewards from Rodgers brand of attacking football.

On the subject of managers, does Ronald Koeman have what it takes to bring glory to Liverpool if ever appointed ? Look at what he’s doing at Southampton.
