The Times reports that Liverpool are considering a bid for Burnley full back Kieran Trippier, after failing in a move for Nathaniel Clyne.
With the full back areas looking like a decidedly weak point of the side last season Liverpool will certainly want to strengthen there. Glen Johnson looks like a pale imitation of the dynamo that joined Liverpool. Meanwhile Albert Moreno has taken time to settle in on the left and has been exposed at times, despite showing promise.
Meanwhile Jon Flanagan, who can play on either side, was a revelation the season before last but spent the entire campaign on the sidelines. We think that he is a first teamer in the making but more investment is certainly needed.
At 24 Trippier has played 185 times for Burnley and scored 6 goals since he joined the club in 2011.
He’s also played at every youth level for England and could be knocking on he door for a full debut before too long.
He’s got a massive engine and gets up and down that line almost effortlessly for the whole 90 minutes. He’s strong in the tackle but seldom reckless and has real quality going forward and a good delivery – in that respect, he’s very much suited to the Liverpool style of play.
Let’s take a look at the lad in action. Liverpool fans: worth a punt or should Brendan Rodgers up his bid for the brilliant Nathaniel Clyne?
