Barcelona forward Pedro has been linked with a move away forth club so many times that it comes a something of a shock that the player has put pen to paper on a new deal which will run until 2019.
Barcelona announced on Thursday:
“FC Barcelona has announced that they have reached an agreement with Pedro Rodríguez to renew his contract until 30 June 2019.
“The striker’s current contract was due to expire on 30 June 2016. His buyout clause will remain at 150 million euros.”
Pedro can count himself unlucky not to have been a regular starter for Barcelona. Thought his career he has performed to a consistently high standard and would walk into most teams. He’s played for Barcelona 317 times and scored a creditable 98 goals, mainly from wide positions. He’s also turned out 50 times for Spain and been a regular scorer there too with 16 goals.
The fact is that every elite side needs a superb squad but they can’t put more than 11 players on the park at once. Pedro could play regularly elsewhere but after spending such a long time at the club he must have asked himself ‘where do you go after Barcelona?’
In reality he will continue to be a vital member of the squad and someone who will get lots of games for the Spanish champions.
Let’s see some of his many amazing moments for the club since he joined in 2004. Barcelona fans: relieved that Pedro is staying?
